Getting 2015 off to a healthy start
Having just signed up Team BF to take part in this year’s Yorkshire Marathon Corporate Relay, we’re all feeling motivated to get 2015 off to a healthy start here at Bannisters’ Farm. So what better way to kick off our training regime than by trying out these delicious recipes by leading sports nutritionist Dr Sarah Schenker?
Each recipe is designed to focus on boosting Endurance (Baked Potato with Feta and Pomegranate), Strength (Baked Potato with Spinach, Ricotta and Cashew Nuts), Immunity (Baked Potato with Mackerel, Mushrooms and Avocado) and Recovery (Baked Potato with Spicy Chicken) and is based around our Ready Baked Potatoes.
As Dr Schenker says “Jacket potatoes are a good source of fast acting carbohydrate which makes them ideal to eat after playing sport to quickly refuel muscle glycogen and help the muscles recover but unlike other popular carbs such as pasta, they also contain a range of vitamins and minerals needed by sportspeople to perform well and to ensure their continued wellbeing.”
So if you’ve set yourself a sporting challenge for 2015, or if you simply want to shake of the sluggishness of the festive season, what are you waiting for?
